Los Lanzamientos Más Destacados del 2011

El primer tercio del año ha sido bastante movido en lanzamientos, con bandas muy esperadas como los Beastie Boys, R.E.M., Radiohead, Strokes, etc. Para ordenar un poco la cabeza, aquí va un playlist con bandas populares rankeadas de acuerdo a las críticas de revistas especializadas.

Personalmente encuentro que los Beastie Boys estuvieron acorde a las expectativas, los Strokes se esperaba algo más y Radiohead como siempre tendrá que pasar el tiempo y digerirse más antes de aquilatar el impacto que tendrá el album más adelante.

Quizás en este 2011 las sorpresas están viniendo de artistas femeninas, algunas más nuevas como Adele o Keren Ann, y otras consagradas como PJ Harvey. Respecto a Adele está  bien... buena voz, talentosa, un cerro de grammies, pero, ¿no le estarán poniendo mucho?...igual tiene un dejo al típico vozarrón de cantante de programa de talentos televisivo, y tampoco es que dentro de la camada del neo soul haya inventado la rueda. Keren Ann probablemente tiene una voz más modesta, pero tiene más sorpresa y frescura.

Dos lanzamientos que me gustaron de bandas menos conocidas. Por un lado el rapero Young Back, el que creo que tiene que envidiar bien poco a otros más conocidos en su género como Lil Wayne, 50 Cents o Lloyd Banks... pero que podría enfrentar pena de cárcel por porte de armas (hace unos años ya había apuñalado a otro rapero en una entrega de premios). Junto a Saigon probablemente son lo mejor hasta ahora en los lanzamientos hip hoperos de la temporada.

Por otro lado Daedelus, que tiene un estilo bastante difícil de encasillar emparentado con el Acid Jazz y la experimentación, realmente interesante la mezcla que hace sin asco de hip hop, jazz, samplers de los 50's y glitches digitales.

Para los que les interese bucear más en profundidad en los lanzamientos acumulados en este año les dejo la lista con los top 200 de acuerdo a Metacritic (que pondera de acuerdo a los críticos más importantes de medios especializados como Pitchfork, Spin, Paste, etc.). El ranking ciertamente está bastante cargado a bandas independientes, con un sesgo a la música menos accesible que les gusta tanto a los críticos, sin embargo, entre los desconocidos hay algunas bastante interesantes que podríamos rescatar más adelante...
